Membership entitles you to:

  • Free entry at any time to the Sanctuary for a year
  • Regular newsletters to keep you up-to-date on developments at the park
  • Expert advice service for all the problems you may encounter with wild birds and animals
  • Sanctuary for sick and injured wild birds or animals that may be in need of help

Your membership will help to make life as good as possible for birds and animals in our care.


The categories are:
Single - R 295.00 per year (Free entry for member and friend)
Family - R 395.00 per year (Free entry for 2 adults and children under 16 years)
Pensioner - R 245.00 per year (Free entry for pensioner and friend)

Aviary Sponsorship & Current Projects

Sponsorship of an aviary is valid for 10 years, and is available from R 10 000 upwards.

If you sponsor an aviary:
  • A plaque bearing your name will be erected in your aviary
  • You will automatically become a Member of World of Birds
  • You will receive our regular newsletter

Ground Hornbill

New enclosure needed, space set aside and ground work started, this project will cost R250 000 to sponsor, this will include the sponsor of the endangered birds.

Meerkats

Our Meerkat colony needs there existing enclosure rebuild due to flood water damage to the retaining wall. This enclosure can be sponsored for R45 000.

Hospital & Breeding

The Sanctuary also serves as hospital, orphanage and breeding centre, caring for injured birds and animals, and breeding of many bird and animal species behind-the-scenes. Some threatened species successfully bred include our national bird the Blue Crane, the Bald Ibis, the NeNe or Hawaiian Goose, and several rare South American Marmosets and Tamarins.

Over the last 32 years, we have cared for over 30 - 40 000 birds and animals with no support whatsoever from any official or corporate structure. Please consider making a donation to help us continue this work.
